Scalding Tank - This is a shackle line; used to hang chickens, turkeys and ducks upside down by their feet.

Once they have been electrically stunned and had their throats cut, they are then dipped into this tank of scalding water to loosen their feathers before removal.

Hidden camera investigations in duck and chicken slaughterhouses have discovered that on a daily basis the birds do not get stunned effectively and finally meet their end here, by drowning in scalding water.
