Animal Testing - This little one needlessly died among hundreds more- they are the discarded 'trash' of animal experiments.

Each year in Australia 1-2 million of these little lives are taken for animal testing. Many of these experiments involve live surgical procedures without pain relief, or exposure to toxins or diseases. If the experiments themselves don't kill the animals, they are all killed once they have served their purpose- often by carbon dioxide gassing, or overdosing with anaesthetic isoflurane through gas or injection.

These experiments continue despite there being long-found evidence that animals are not accurate models for human ailment testing. A 2015 study by The National Institutes of Health in the United States found that a staggering 95% of all drugs that are shown to be safe and effective in animal testing go on to fail in human trials.
